DAB+ radio reception works differently than FM radio reception.

– On FM you can often still receive a weak station, or probably with a hiss or crackle.

– DAB+ reception works digitally and if there is not enough signal locally, you won’t hear anything. No hissing or crackling like FM. This is not due to the radio, but because there is not enough DAB+ signal there.

– DAB+ rule is: no reception = no sound.

What can you do if you don’t have direct DAB+ reception somewhere?

– Always align the antenna vertically upwards first.

– Do not place the radio too close to potential sources of interference such as LED lights, battery chargers, rotating machinery, computers, large metal surfaces, etc.

– Switch on the radio and activate Full Scan in the DAB+ menu.

– In the radio display you can see the progress of the search and the number of stations found that the radio is currently on.

Important:

– With DAB+ reception there can be a very large difference in reception level between one location and “a few meters away”. If there is a locally weak DAB+ signal, it is important to find the best possible location by slightly moving the radio.

– Even if you move to another location in the country, it is recommended to do a full scan again there. This way you can see which DAB+ stations can be received there.

DAB+ Radio has been new for a few years and all stations are working hard to achieve full, nationwide coverage in the coming years. However, there are currently several areas and locations where there is no or a weak DAB+ signal.
